Mayoral Candidate (Incumbent)
I have been a resident of Bradford West Gwillimbury for 61 years, and have been involved in volunteer roles throughout my life, representing my community to protect our environment and improve our Town. I am running for re-election as Mayor of Bradford West Gwillimbury.
I have had 8 years of political experience, first as Deputy Mayor and then as your Mayor, for the last 4 years. I have been pleased with the progress in our Town – new parks, trails and tree plantings, new road and street reconstruction, Downtown improvements and working to keep the taxes low, while being a transparent, accountable and responsive Mayor.
There is more to do. I will continue to work for the Hwy 400/404 Link, to improve transit and traffic flow, improve Town facilities, and continue to listen to residents. That is why I want to be your Mayor.
Deputy Mayoral Candidates
Deputy Mayoral Candidate (Incumbent)
I am running for Deputy Mayor to continue to deliver on the promises made (and kept). Simply put? I want to keep the momentum and traction going. We have made a lot of progress, and in a great position to continue our track record, with full understanding of the needs of our growing/evolving community.
The experience gained in last term has been invaluable to me. I sit at several county and municipal decision – making tables on your behalf. I understand the history, the mandate and the issues at hand. I am comfortable challenging decisions that are not fiscally responsible, or are not in the best collective interest of our community.
I have a personal vested interest in making sure BWG continues to be a thriving place to live, play and work. My commitment to you, will be to continue building an even better Bradford. Thank you.
Deputy Mayoral Candidate
Simply, I love the people of this town. The people of Bradford gave me a home for my family, my business and my community. Now it is time to give back to those people and this town.
Bradford is at a critical juncture, determining how to manage its monumental growth and whether to amalgamate with surrounding areas. I want to represent the needs of the people of Bradford on a more diverse town council; one that works in a more modernized fashion to deal with a modernized world. I want BWG to embrace evolution without forgetting the past.
Bradford’s ongoing, drastic changes require a new kind of Deputy Mayor; one who offers greater accessibility and broader awareness of community issues. Why am I running? Because, I can fulfill all of the needs I have described here. I hope I’ll have your support in building a better Bradford, together.
Ward 1 Councillor Candidate
Why be a councillor? It’s an important question – not all candidates run for the same reasons or view the role the same way. I see this role as a natural progression from my past volunteer & professional work. Community involvement is something I value deeply. I have 3 young children and I want to have an active role in shaping the future of their town, while showing them the importance of being actively involved. As Councillor, I would be in a position where I would have the most direct impact on people’s everyday lives. I would be able to connect people, businesses, and community groups together so they can share their strengths & knowledge. It isn’t about the title, or the wage for me. It’s about what I see as taking the next step in community building, leveraging the professional and volunteer experience I have & bringing a new perspective to the table.
Ward 1 Councillor Candidate (Incumbent)
As a resident of Bradford West Gwillimbury since 1989, I appreciate it as a great town to live in & raise a family. Having volunteered on various boards & organizations for many years, I have a proven track record of giving back.
I am humbled to represent the residents of Ward 1 as their councillor since 2010. Together, we have enhanced traffic enforcement, introduced new parks, opened West Park/Miller Park, enhanced BWG transit, approved senior housing & have made progress with the push for the hwy 400/404 link.
I am proud of the progress made, but there is more to do. I am seeking re-election so I can continue to push for issues that matter, all while being fiscally responsible with residents dollars. We need enhanced services from the county for waste/yard pick up, push for hwy 400/404 link to alleviate the traffic gridlock & addition enforcement for safer streets.

Ward 3 Councillor Candidate
The reason I have chosen to run for Bradford West Gwillimbury Council is that I have a strong vested interest in this community. I personally have been in and around this area for 50 plus years. I have been working here for over 40 years keeping our citizens safe, and wish to continue to keep their best interests paramount.
There is a lot of rapid, necessary growth in our Town, and required supporting services. I believe that must be handled responsibly in a controlled, well planned fashion. An affordable fashion. Traffic congestion is one of the biggest problems in our Town. This must urgently
be addressed. Yet while we have problems to deal with, the taxes are too high. We must find a way to address this problem in the same urgent way.
Residents have not always had their concerns heard and adequately dealt with. That cannot happen. You all need to be heard, especially in Ward 3.
Ward 3 Councillor Candidate (Incumbent)
I am running for re-election for Ward 3 because I believe that Council needs experience and an independent voice. Ward 3 is unique because of its rural and urban blend. The highland farms and the marsh farming community produce our food and their right to farm needs to be protected. Roads have had a tremendous boost in our ward…….more needs to be done. The new urban communities have needs…..they need to be recognized. The new official plan recognizes that the current urban boundaries are sufficient to accommodate growth and jobs. I bring experience to the table from many current and past council roles…..fire, library board, Holland Marsh board, police, traffic safety, conservation, building committees, finance etc..We need to ensure that the current growth does not destroy our sense of community but makes our town better. I ask for your support.
Ward 3 Councillor Candidate
I am running as I have over 30 years real estate experience finishing my career with Vivian’s award winning office in Richmond Hill Royal LePage- your community realtor. I am also 81 years old mature woman. I remember the corn fields besides an unpaved Bayview working. At one point in my career I was a executive secretary to professor George Sinclair at his communications factory and I had top secret government clearance. Looking forward to seeing you and responding to any questions and concerns you might have. I live in a rent geared co-op and my current earnings qualify me for food bank usage even though I am relatively new to Bradford West Gwillimbury. I am extremely fast learner. I will donate part of my salary to charity. As I love my handicapped equipped apartment. Vote for me in ward three.
Ward 3 Councillor Candidate
Ward 4 Councillor Candidate
I was born in Bradford and attended Bradford Public School in the 1980s. I graduated Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Commerce in 2003. After living in Toronto for several years, my wife Andrea and I, decided it was time to move and chose Bradford as a place to settle and raise our young family because of its reputation as a safe and growing community.
I am running because I proudly live in Ward 4 and see the challenges residents in our ward face. From traffic and safety concerns, to the need for responsible development to reduce our tax burden, I have a true understanding of what my neighbours and I need and want with council. I want to be the voice for ward 4, and will work hard to advocate for ward 4 residents!
Ward 4 Councillor Candidate (Incumbent)
Four years ago, I was encouraged to run for Town Council. They said the town was growing too quickly and taxes were rising too much. People reached out and said, “Ron, you had success in business across Canada, we need your financial know-how looking after our tax dollars”. I ran and was honoured to be elected.
Ward 4 Councillor Candidate
I am running for Council because I want to be the Voice for the Residents of Ward 4 and all the people who call BWG home. I am passionate about BWG. I want to be part of the team that moves our Town forward. I want to be involved and have a voice in attracting new businesses to BWG so our residents can live, work and play right in their town. I would like to see more Affordable Seniors Housing for BWG and promise to work hard to see that becomes a reality. Tough decisions will have to be made. I am the person who will ensure that each decision benefits as many residents as possible. I have no fear in voicing my opinion and speaking up. My promise to the residents of Ward 4 and the entire Town of BWG is I will work hard and make a difference!!
Ward 5 Councillor Candidate (Incumbent)
‘I was born and raised in Bradford West Gwillimbury. I have lived in, worked in and supported this community my entire life.
Over the past 4 years I feel that I have brought a lot to our local government. My experience in business, customer service, agriculture and my passion for Bradford has made me a strong voice on council. Many Rural and Urban Roads have been repaired or replaced. Tax increases have been the lowest in years. Many senior housing projects have commenced and will be ready soon.
Promises I made from the previous election have been kept, but there’s still more we can do.
If re-elected I will continue to advocate for the 400-404 bypass. I will fight for affordable housing options. I will work on reducing traffic congestion. Above all else, I will listen to and address your concerns. Let’s do what is best for this community, the town we call home.’
Ward 5 Councillor Candidate
WARD 5 is the biggest and an important Ward of BWG with a mix of strong Urban, Rural and Farming community. Ward 5 yet needs to be heard and needs A STRONG VOICE to represent us in the rapidly growing community of BWG.
I will provide a strong, dedicated and passionate Councillor to Ward 5, who will reach out to all Constituents at their DOORSTEP and make sure their voice is STRONG and ALL CONCERNS ARE HEARD. I am a strong believer of SERVANT LEADERSHIP — I believed that a leader of people is their servant.
It would be a privilege for me to protect your best interests at BWG Council. I have proven record of my 9+ consecutive years as a dedicated Community volunteer and Community builder (Civic Award Winner). I was, and will remain, tireless for Ward 5 & Town of BWG.

Ward 6 Councillor Candidate
My family and I have lived in Bradford, in beautiful ward 6 for the past 25 years.
I am running for Municipal Council, because I am passionately committed to protect and uphold our quality of life, community safety, ecological and heritage preservation in Bradford. Like so many families in Bradford, I have raised my children here and stood shoulder to shoulder with you as a soccer and hockey mom, a new university mom, a business woman , a volunteer and an active participant in our ever growing community. With great progress comes great discomfort, and I am dedicated to being part of the solution in Bradford as your Voice on Council. In the words of Henry Ford, “Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”
I believe That Bradford Council will flourish with the inclusion of a strong, qualified woman.
Truly, how can anything be about us, without us?
Ward 6 Councillor Candidate (Incumbent)
Peter Dykie Jr.
Ward 7 Councillor Candidate (Incumbent)
I am running for re-election of Ward 7 because I am dedicated to having a continued voice for the residents of BWG. One of my top priorities is residential safety, which I believe can be improved through various traffic calming measures. Another one of my interests lie within the senior community, as I believe more senior housing options and affordable taxes are necessary for these individuals to remain comfortable in a growing municipality.
In ward 7, I wish to continue to upgrade the mature infrastructure (roads, sidewalks and curbs) and parks. Furthermore, I will continue to keep a strong eye on taxes to ensure affordability. I believe that electing a knowledgeable counsellor with a strong experiential voice, is imperative to continue the growth of our beautiful town. If re-elected, it would be a great honour to continue to serve the residents of Ward 7. “Smart Choices for Proven Results!”
Ward 7 Councillor Candidate
I have lived in Bradford and in Ward 7 for 26 years, I am Happily married for over 33 years to my wife Ada and we have raised our family here. We have 4 adult children, 1 grandchild, Riley, she is 3 years old, and 2 more on the way.
The reason I have chosen to run in Ward 7 is I believe our Ward lacks the representation it needs on council, It needed a challenger to what has become the status quo. The most common concern from constituents is that things are not being addressed in our Ward. Issues need to be addressed quickly and efficiently. This Ward will not look after itself, it needs ACTIVE representation.
Thats why I’m running for Ward 7, Vote for Change, Vote for Dave Minnema,
I live in this community, I care about this community and I believe that Ward 7 residents expect better.
